Floating on Land is a tapestry which shows the distorted patterns becoming lost and scattered across the land contours, to portray them becoming unrecognisable to new generations as the tradition disappears. As a result, individuals are no longer able to interpret the symbols or understand their meanings. Consequently, the connection to ancestral heritage is at risk of being lost. This reality became evident during my visit to Oued Zitoun, where one of the traditional weavers in the village was unable to share the meaning of the symbols.
